La Mancha: aventura del idioma español - La Mancha: adventure in the Spanish Language

Cuando Cervantes escogió La Mancha para que allí tuviera lugar una de las novelas más destacadas de la literatura universal no fue por casualidad. Podría haber elegido cualquier otra zona de España u otras ciudades con mayor renombre en la época: la bella Granada, la imperial Toledo, Sevilla, Madrid.... También podría haber elegido, si hubiera tenido cierta visión turística, alguna zona costera para hacer aún mas atractiva la novela. 

Pero no fue así, eligió La Mancha. Esta región natural ocupa en la actualidad parte de las provincias de Ciudad Real, Toledo, Cuenca y Albacete. Al igual que en la época en la que Cervantes escribió su novela, hoy sigue siendo un paraíso por descubrir.

When Cervantes chose La Mancha as the setting of one of the most significant novels in the history of literature, it wasn´t by chance. He could have chosen any other part of Spain or another city of greater renown in the period: beautiful Granada, Imperial Toledo, Seville or Madrid… He could have even chosen, if he had had a certain touristic vision, any coastal area to make the novel even more appealing.

But that wasn’t the case, he chose La Mancha. At present, this natural region occupies parts of the provinces of Cuidad Real, Toledo, Cuenca and Albacete. Just as it was in the age in which Cervantes wrote his novel, to this day it continues to be an undiscovered paradise.
